Thanks to the addition of specific fillers and reinforcements, these plastics offer superior mechanical and thermal performance, making them suitable for demanding applications. This article explores the different types of fillers and reinforcements, their properties and applications.  <\/p>\n\n<p><strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#0077d4\" class=\"has-inline-color\">What is reinforced plastic?<\/mark><\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>A reinforced plastic is a base resin, often thermoplastic or thermosetting, to which reinforcing fillers or fibers have been added. These are known as compounds. These additions modify the material&#8217;s properties in a targeted way, increasing its mechanical strength, rigidity and durability. Reinforced plastics are widely used in the automotive, aeronautics, construction and electronics industries.   <\/p>\n\n<p><strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#0077d4\" class=\"has-inline-color\">The different types of reinforcement and their characteristics<\/mark><\/strong><\/p>\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Short or long fibres:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Glass fibers or glass beads:<\/strong> the most widely used reinforcement, they increase rigidity and tensile strength. They are ideal for applications requiring high mechanical properties, such as automotive parts. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Carbon fibers:<\/strong> these offer exceptional strength while maintaining a very low density, making them particularly well suited to the aeronautics and high-performance sports sectors.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Aramid fibers (Kevlar):<\/strong> combine lightness and impact resistance, often used in protective equipment or military applications.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n<ol start=\"2\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Mineral particles :<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Talc and silica:<\/strong> used to improve dimensional stability and thermal resistance.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Calcium carbonates:<\/strong> increase rigidity and reduce production costs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Nano-fillers (such as graphene):<\/strong> these emerging materials offer thermal or electrical conductivity properties while maintaining a <strong>yarns or natural fibers (hemp, flax, wood):<\/strong> increasingly sought-after for ecological solutions, these fibers combine lightness and mechanical performance with
