Il vient du mot indien \u00ab&nbsp;<em>cahutchu<\/em>&nbsp;\u00bb qui signifie \u00ab bois qui pleure \u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Les \u00e9lastom\u00e8res sont des polym\u00e8res d\u2019origine naturelle ou synth\u00e9tique dot\u00e9s de propri\u00e9t\u00e9s \u00e9lastiques, ce qui signifie qu&rsquo;ils peuvent se d\u00e9former consid\u00e9rablement sous contrainte, mais reviennent \u00e0 leur forme initiale une fois la contrainte rel\u00e2ch\u00e9e.
